Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we are currently in-network with most Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna plans.

If we are out-of-network with your insurance plan, we can provide you with a superbill (detailed receipt) that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Because every plan is different, we encourage you to contact your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network mental health benefits and reimbursement eligibility.

How long are therapy sessions?

Most therapy sessions are approximately 50 minutes long. The frequency of sessions depends on your needs and goals, but many clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly appointments, and then transition to bi-weekly and monthly sessions are progress is made.

Do you offer private pay and what forms of payment do you accept?

Yes! Private pay is always an option, whether you choose not to use insurance or your insurance plan is out-of-network.

Our private pay rates are:

  • Initial Intake Session: $175

  • Individual Therapy Sessions: $150

We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as many Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards. If you are attending an in-person session, cash is also accepted.

Will my therapist give me advice or tell me what I should do?

Our role is to help you uncover your own answers and develop healthy coping mechanisms and/or boundaries. We’ll offer guidance, practical tools, and fresh perspectives, but our role is to empower you to feel confident in making decisions that align with your values and the life you want to build.

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of the counseling relationship. Information shared during therapy is kept private, except in specific circumstances required by law or ethical standards, including concerns about immediate safety, suspected abuse or neglect, or when disclosure is legally mandated.

These exceptions will be explained in detail during your first session, and you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions.

Do I have to be Christian to work with you?

No. You do not need to be Christian to receive counseling at Abiding Springs. We work with clients from diverse backgrounds and honor each person's unique beliefs, values, and life experiences.

Although our counseling approach is rooted in a Christian worldview, we will never impose our beliefs or faith on you. Instead, we will work together in a way that aligns with your personal goals and values. For clients who desire it, faith can be intentionally incorporated into therapy as part of the healing process.

What can I expect during my first session?

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know one another. We'll discuss what brings you to counseling, your personal history, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we'll begin developing a plan that reflects your unique needs and goals. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

How many sessions will I need?

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients find a few sessions helpful for navigating a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly discuss your progress and work together to determine what feels most beneficial for you.

How do I get started?

Call us at 336-265-7255 to get started. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have and see if working together feels like the right fit. If you decide to move forward, we'll schedule your first appointment and begin from there.
